We believe in Hunger-Free Schools

Every summer, we call upon our Portland-area neighbors to recycle their fallen and unwanted backyard fruit to our Fruit Forward Drive as part of our annual Community Cider fundraiser program. Our Drive takes donated edible fruit and turns it into a community cider to raise funds for school meals for hungry children.

Thanks to the kindness of the collective community, we have collected over 4,000 bushels since starting this drive eight years ago – that’s over 150,000 pounds of apples and pears. We’ve donated over $50,000 to local non-profits due to this incredible support from our Portland community.

More Fruit Means More Money Raised

This year, ALL NET PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED to Hunger-Free Oregon and their school meal programs, to end childhood hunger.

Portland Cider Co.’s Fruit Forward Apple & Fruit Drive, and subsequent Community Cider, benefits Hunger-Free Schools, a program of Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon that provides support and grant funding to schools across Oregon, working to ensure that every student in Oregon has access to nutritious meals each day. Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon is a 501(c)3 non-profit committed to actively working to end hunger by connecting people to food and nutrition programs, raising awareness about hunger, and advocating for systemic changes.
