Celebrate the Holidays Portland Cider-Style!

The holiday season is all about the traditions that bring us together and make this time of year feel magical. From cozy nights at home to festive outings around town, our Portland Cider crew has its own special ways of celebrating. Here are some of our favorite holiday traditions—maybe you’ll find a new one to try!

Jordan

Nothing beats the joy of snuggling up with a blanket, some festive cider, and a lineup of hilariously bad holiday movies. From overly dramatic Hallmark romances to questionable CGI, it’s all part of the charm. Jordan swears it’s the perfect way to unwind after a busy day of holiday prep.

Jesus

For Jesus, it’s not the holidays without apple pie—LOTS of apple pie. Whether baking them or judging them (a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!), these low-stakes competitions with friends and family are a delicious way to celebrate. Pro tip: Wash down your pie with a glass of Portland Cider’s Original Gold for the most apple-rific combo.

Steven

Steven’s go-to holiday adventure is fire and ice: Skating at the Portland Winter Ice Rink, then a warm-up with a steaming cup of hot cocoa. Whether you're a pro or more of a "clinging to the wall" type, this is a festive activity that everyone can enjoy.

Jeff

Jeff prefers the adventure of heading up to Mount Hood to cut down his family’s Christmas tree—the most Oregon tradition possible! There’s nothing quite like the smell of fresh pine to kick off the season—and it’s a fun excuse to spend a day in the snow.

Lynda

Lynda’s tradition is straight out of a British storybook: Christmas crackers at the dinner table and a warm mug of mulled wine. It’s a simple, elegant way to add some extra sparkle to any holiday gathering with your very favorite people.

Jared

Jared loves to take in the sights at The Grotto’s Festival of Lights. This ultra-Portland tradition features a stunning display of over 2 million lights, combined with choir performances and serene, light-lined pathways. You can’t help but feel the spirit of the season!

Chad

Chad’s holiday highlight is visiting Peacock Lane, Portland’s famously festive neighborhood. With its twinkling lights, creative displays, and plenty of holiday cheer, this tradition is a must-see for anyone looking to soak up the season’s magic. You can drive through, but walking doubles the magic!

Jodi

Jodi loves bundling up and heading out to watch the Christmas Ships Parade. These decorated boats light up the Willamette and Columbia Rivers in a tradition that’s uniquely Portland. Don’t forget to bring a thermos of warm cider to stay cozy while you enjoy the show!

Brandon

For Brandon, the holidays aren’t complete without a trip to Lee Farms in Tualatin. From fresh-cut Christmas trees to hot donuts and cider, this family-owned farm offers a cozy, nostalgic holiday experience.

Sierra

Sierra loves escaping the hustle and bustle by renting a cozy cabin on our favorite local mountain. Add a fireplace, snow-covered views, some board games and of course, cider, and you’ve got the recipe for a perfect holiday retreat.

Katie

Katie enjoys a grown-up twist on a classic tradition: Oregon Zoo’s Brewlights. This festive event combines dazzling light displays with craft beverages, making it a unique way to celebrate the season. If you missed this year’s event, there’s still time to take the family to ZooLights!

Tiffaney

Tiffaney’s favorite tradition is all about family. Each Christmas Eve, her family exchanges a gift set with pajamas, books, and popcorn—perfect for a relaxing night together before the chaos of Christmas morning.

The holidays may look a little different for everyone, but the joy of celebrating traditions new and old is something we all share. However you spend your season, the Portland Cider crew wishes you a cozy, cider-filled holiday!
