Cheers to 2022! What to watch for in Portland in the coming year.

As we prepare to put the old year to bed, it’s good to reflect on the lessons of the year behind us. But we’ve always got our eyes on the road ahead at Portland Cider, and we’re already making plans for a 2022 worth celebrating. Maybe we’ll see you at some of our favorite local spots:

Westside Pub!

This one comes first because it’s one of the hottest topics around here… Portland Cider’s Westside Pub will be opening in Beaverton SOON! This spring, cider lovers all over the west metro area will have a new place to come and enjoy delicious Northwest cider and tasty pub grub. Our new outpost will be on the corner of Murray Boulevard and TV Highway, in the brand-new West End District.

Farmers Markets

Just when you can’t stand the rain any longer, the sun breaks through and all the farmers markets in the area set up again for the new season. Portland and its surroundings have an abundance of markets to choose from, stuffed with fresh local produce, prepared foods, meats and baked goods. Find your nearest market and mark your calendar! Bonus: SNAP users can double their market funds with Double Up Food Bucks.

New Inclusive Playground

For the kids in your life, Gabriel Park in Southwest Portland is due to open its brand-new, inclusive playground in early 2022! Activities like an in-ground trampoline, water play and a sensory wall give every kid the opportunity to enjoy the park, with many features designed to be accessible to people using mobility devices. And Gabriel Park is right on the TriMet line, so families can visit from all over the city.

Mexican Modernism

Starting this February, the Portland Art Museum will be featuring the art of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and others from the Mexican Modernist movement. The price of admission will give you access to this special exhibition, as well as the impressive permanent collection, filled with Native American, Asian, European and Northwest art works.

Spring Flowers

You may have to wait until June for the Rose City’s Rose Garden to be in full bloom, but you can find flowers, trees, and peaceful paths year-round at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. The garden’s namesake flowers are at their peak in April and May, but the experience is designed to show off a wide variety of blooms all year long. It’s also a great place to do a little birdwatching…

Jojo PDX Gets Space

We’re so happy to see one of our favorite food trucks moving into a brick-and-mortar restaurant space! Jojo is taking their juicy fried chicken sandwiches (and tofu sandwiches, and boozy milkshakes) into the Pearl District, and we can’t wait to see what the expanded food and drink menu will look like. That sound you hear is Portland Cider’s collective stomach growling, and you can bet we’ll be among the first to visit when the doors open…

Feast

Every September, lovers of food and drink assemble here to indulge in some of the best food in the world–produced right here in Oregon. Every Feast is a little different from the last, and 2022 will be no exception. Stay tuned for details on fabulous new foods, drinks, and locations!

Apple Festival

You may have guessed that apples are a big part of our lives at Portland Cider. So naturally, we’re huge fans of Portland Nursery’s annual apple festival, where visitors can sample an enormous selection of apples and pears, from familiar to heirloom varieties. Plus, there’s an apple pressing demonstration, apple-filled foods, and our favorite part—a hard cider tasting (which we have always loved being a part of). We’re looking forward to being a part of more festivals throughout 2022!

CIDER!

You can guarantee that our focus at Portland Cider will always be on creating delicious, innovative new ciders for you, and we can’t wait to share them! Of course, you’ll always be able to depend on our flagship Kinda Dry, but we’ve got even more ciders in store in 2022. Just wait to see what we have planned to share here soon… things are going to look a little different around here, in a refreshing and exciting way!

Portland Cider Company was founded in 2013 to bring hand-crafted, award winning cider to the Northwest. We recognize Portland and her bold spirit as the inspiration behind our innovative ciders, and use the city as inspiration on our quest to make the cleanest, tastiest, and most enjoyable cider-drinking experience the city has to offer.
