Out Standing in the Field with Portland Cider

In the Pacific Northwest, we’re never more than a hop, skip or jump away from a farm! And lucky for us, a lot of those farms are open to the public for U-pick fruit, pumpkin patches, farm stands, corn mazes and lots of opportunities to pet cute farm animals. But what you might not know is that Portland Cider likes to hang around our local farms, too! When you visit our farm partners, you can enjoy some nice, cold cider along with your favorite farm activities. Here’s where you’ll find us this season:

Packer Orchards: 3020 Thomsen Road, Hood River, Oregon

Packer’s Farm Place offers U-pick and fresh fruit, plus all sorts of family-friendly events to keep the whole crew engaged. Right now, their sunflower fields are in bloom, offering the ideal backdrop for some family photos, and if you don’t have time to do the full visit, swing by their bakery on Highway 35 for fruit-filled baked goods and luscious milkshakes!

TopWIre Hop Project: 8668 Crosby Road NE, Woodburn, Oregon

Picture yourself in a beer garden that’s in a field surrounded by 20-foot-tall hop bines, and that’s TopWire! Enjoy cider and beer in the fresh air, at the heart of a working hop farm, and get a little closer to the roots of Oregon’s craft beverage industry—literally. The scenery, beverages, and fresh hop aromas are worth the trip.

French Prairie Gardens: 17673 French Prairie Rd NE, Saint Paul, Oregon

This is a great place to spend a day with the whole family! Obstacle courses, tire swings, farm animals and a giant bubble-blowing station will keep all ages smiling, and the farm bar is where you’ll find Portland Cider, along with tons of other drinks and food to refuel. Pick up some gorgeous plants at the Garden Center to take a little bit of the farm home with you.

Bella Organic: 16205 NW Gillihan Road, Portland, Oregon (Sauvie Island)

Amid 100 lush acres of certified organic goodness, you’ll find a jam-packed farm stand, vast U-pick fields of in-season berries, corn, cherries, pears and sunflowers, and food and beverage options (cider!!) galore. Grab some drinks and a charcuterie board and settle in somewhere with a view of the fields, and you’re sure to see some of the birds that frequent the nearby wildlife refuge. And be sure and visit again in the fall… Our Pumpkin Spice Cider is the best reward for navigating the massive corn maze!
