Portland Cider Company announces 1st ever Snakebite Showdown
A celebration and collaboration of Oregon Cider Week & Portland Beer Week
June 15, 2016 (Portland, OR) – With Portland Beer Week and Oregon Cider Week overlapping, starting tomorrow June 16, Portland Cider Company announces their first annual Snakebite Showdown. Fat Head’s Brewery, Pelican Brewing Company, Ecliptic Brewing and Fort George Brewery have partnered with Portland Cider Company to go head-to-head in this competition for the best quintessential English drink – the snakebite! The competition will run June 16th though the 30th, with voting online.
The snakebite combos will be available at multiple locations, including both of Portland Cider Company’s taproom locations and both Ecliptic and Fat Head’s Brewery Portland restaurants. Fat Head’s location in the Pearl District is hosting a kick-off event on June 16th, all-day.
Traditionally, the snakebite is a half lager, half cider mixed drink, which is very popular in English countries and is loved by Portland Cider fans. With the owners of Portland Cider Company’s background in the United Kingdom, this competition is particularly close to the heart.
“We couldn’t call ourselves a Northwest cidery based on English traditions without having a snakebite on our board – it just wouldn’t be right. So with all the amazing craft beer talent here in Oregon, it seemed like this competition was a natural fit to tie together both Oregon Cider Week and Portland Beer Week.” said Lynda Parrish, co-owner of Portland Cider Co. and native of Somerset, England.
