Join us at the zoo for Twilight Tuesdays and enjoy reduced admission.
Where can you go to eat dinner outdoors, sample local beverages, listen to live music and let your kids run around and try crafty activities—all while hanging out with crepuscular creatures like lions, tigers and bears? The Oregon Zoo has set aside three summer evenings when families, coworkers, friends or dates can come and enjoy everything the zoo has to offer (and more) from 5 to 8 p.m. for just $5 a ticket.
Twilight Tuesdays offer guests the chance to experience the magic of summer evenings at the zoo for a reduced admission price. In addition to all the zoo usually has to offer, the events also include live music, family activities and games and local beverage samples. Local food carts such as CS Fisheries, Pok Pok, Verde Cocina, Eleni's Kitchen, KOi Fusion, Ruby Jewel, Pip's Original Doughnuts, Zeds Real Fruit Ice Cream and Ben & Jerry's will be selling food.
Pete Krebs and his Portland Playboys will be performing their music inspired by the great Hillbilly Jazz and Western Swing artists of the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s at 5:15 p.m. and again at 6:45 p.m.
There will be a Wildlife Live! meet and greet near the Africafe entrance at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and keepers will educate the community about what small actions humans can take to help other species thrive.
The ZooGuides team will host crafty activities, ZooTeens will be educating guests about palm oil at Red Ape Reserve and our community partners such as The Pixie Project, The Nature Conservancy, Smokey Bear, Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District, West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District, ZooGuide ECO Program, Oregon Bee Project, Portland'5 Centers for the Arts, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Metro Master Gardeners and Metro Parks & Nature will be hosting booths at the events.
Sample local and regional beverages from 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Portland Cider Co., Full Sail Brewing Company, KYLA Kombucha, Rogue Ales & Spirits, Ordnance Brewing, Backwoods Brewing Company, Reverend Nat's Hard Cider, Crux Fermentation Project, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Migration Brewing Company and Coopers Hall.
Twilight Tuesdays are open to people of all ages. Come out to the zoo for this special evening of entertainment and you'll find that many animals are more active at dusk.
Admission is $5 per person after 4 p.m., and free for zoo members. Tickets are available at the door (no online option).
Parking lots are $2/hour and tend to fill up quickly for these events, and the zoo is encouraging visitors to take MAX rather than driving. Visitors who ride MAX light rail or a TriMet bus to the zoo will receive an additional $1.50 off their already discounted admission with proof of ridership. Call 503-238-RIDE (7433) or visit trimet.org for fare and route information.
