Enjoy Cider, Support Women, Make a Difference!

Each year, we collect your fallen and unwanted apples and pears during our Fruit Forward Drive. Then we turn that fruit into delicious Community Cider (and for the first time, brandy!), with a percentage of the sales going to a local nonprofit.

We choose our nonprofit beneficiary carefully, because we consider it a privilege to allocate money that you spend on our cider to organizations that touch the lives of people in our own community. This year, we’re working with Fighting Pretty, a Portland-based nonprofit that helps women battling cancer feel strong and beautiful.

Fighting Pretty was established by a Portland woman who knows first-hand how important mental strength is during a cancer battle. Founder Kara Frazier was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer when she was just 26 years old. Through many years of treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, fertility treatments and hormone therapy, Kara grew to understand that feeling beautiful and strong was vital to her recovery—she decided to Fight Pretty.

Kara founded Fighting Pretty in 2013 to support and empower women battling all types of cancer. Since then, the nonprofit has impacted over 40,000 women in 50 states and 25 countries. Cancer patients receive care packages with gifts like inspiration cards, toxin-free cosmetics, hats, socks, jewelry and mini boxing gloves that remind them that they can be fierce fighters AND beautiful, strong women.

We chose Fighting Pretty because we all know someone who’s been affected by cancer. It’s a disease that doesn’t discriminate, and having supportive friends and family and a positive mindset can help patients navigate treatment with hope and strength. You can help us support Fighting Pretty by purchasing Community Cider when it’s released this October.
