Innovation and Collaboration: It's In Our Roots

Portland is a city known for its makers and creators—we just like to do things our own way here. And while our envelope-busting spirit may be partially responsible for our city’s “weird” reputation, we consider ourselves lucky to be surrounded by a community of innovators who push against the ordinary. The artists, makers, businesses, and the Pacific Northwest landscape all work together to inspire us as we craft our ciders and grow our company.

We love to partner up with like-minded brands from around here. Like Singing Dog Vanilla, who provided the creamy, dreamy vanilla for this summer’s Tangerine Dreamsicle cider. And Steven Smith Teamaker’s smooth Assam black tea was the perfect match for our Imperial Peach Tea

But, we aren’t just looking to source quality ingredients for our ciders. We seek out like-minded Oregon businesses to work with because they share that spirit of innovation and inspired collaboration that makes us proud of our roots in the city of Portland. We know from experience that all of us are better off when we’re sharing ideas and creating together.

And the sources of inspiration will never run dry in Portland! The creators here build on each other’s ideas, lift each other, and make each other better. We would never have thought to make Blueberry Bourbon Basil cider if Blue Star Donuts hadn’t thought of that brilliant combination of flavors first. And our Ciderade series wouldn’t be the same without Jacobsen Salt harvested on the Oregon Coast.

One of our favorite collaborations is happening right now, with our PDX Community Cider. The cider is a collaboration with our fans, made entirely with apples and other fruit collected from people all over the Portland area, and helps raise money for hungry kids. A cider that’s truly made “for Portland, by Portland,” our entire Portland Cider community comes together to make this cider possible. This is the kind of partnership we love, where everybody wins!

The best things happen when people work together to make something even better than they could have alone. At Portland Cider, we’re inspired to collaborate with local businesses, explore what’s possible in the world of cider making, and create new, bold ciders that have never been made before. All because we believe in fostering a community that expects more from the cider they drink.

Who will we work with next? Stay tuned!
