Support Portland’s AAPI Food Scene

At Portland Cider Co., we celebrate the rich variety of people who make up our community. In Portland, there’s no shortage of cuisines, traditions, and art from a wide breadth of cultures. Because of this, you can easily take a trip to a tropical island with a takeout box and can of our Passion Orange Guava cider - no suitcase required.

Summer 2021 is guaranteed to be one we will always remember. Whether you’ve booked a trip to the islands or not, escape to paradise right here in Portland, Oregon with a wide variety of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) owned restaurants. Now is a great time to remind ourselves and our fans that visiting AAPI-owned businesses is a great way to support the diversity in our city.

This list is just a sampling of some of our favorite places you can fill up on delicious food while supporting our local Asian American and Pacific Islander community. All perfectly paired with our summer seasonal cider, Passion Orange Guava, that’s bursting with tropical fruits and citrus. Tart, tangy, and just the right amount of sweet to cool any spicy eats.

RESTAURANTS

This relatively new restaurant features Viet-inspired food and fun cocktails from Trang Nguyen. The menu offers all the hallmarks of great Vietnamese cuisine, from fragrant herbs to spicy-sweet sauces.

Nong’s Khao Man Gai (Southeast & Downtown)

The deceptively simple flagship chicken and rice dish stands out because of the incredible sauce that’s served alongside. Vegetarian and vegan options, along with gluten-free and paleo make this a spot everyone can enjoy.

Oma’s Hideaway (Southeast)

Named in honor of Chef Thomas Pisha-Duffly’s grandmother, the menu features a playful selection of Southeast Asian cuisine that’s designed to make you feel as spoiled as if you just visited Oma’s house.

(Bonus: Check out Oma’s sister restaurant, Gado Gado in Northeast)

Obon Shokudo (Southeast)

Japanese comfort food—onigiri, tofu katsu, udon and more—that’s delicious, and also happens to be entirely vegan. Obon’s transition from cart to brick-and-mortar opened just days ago, with a brand-new cocktail menu coming soon.
