Win-Win: Seven Local Treats for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is this Sunday! (Life comes atcha fast, right?) Don’t panic—you still have time to treat the mother figure in your life to something thoughtful and unique. The Rose City is full of local shops and services that can help make the day special. A few of our favorite Portland-grown options include:

1.Steven Smith Tea

World-class tea made right here! With tempting black, green, white, red, and herbal options, you may have to pick up a few boxes to gift. The SE Portland tasting room is open with outdoor seating if you’d prefer an in-person beverage experience, or you can give the gift of an online “Tea 101” tasting class. So many options!

2.Baker & Spice

Tucked away in the Hillsdale shopping mall, these baked goods bring pastry-lovers from all corners of the city. Surprise your mother with fresh-baked pastries--like their special Mother’s Day raspberry-rose croissant that’s filled with pastry cream and sanded with raspberry sugar. We suggest you pair it with our RazzBerry Cider for dessert!

3.Bridge Nine Candles

There’s nothing quite like the soft glow and soothing scent of a really good candle. Our friends at Bridge Nine make clean, phthalate-free candles with soy wax, cotton wicks, and high-grade essential oils and fragrances. They’re made in St. Johns, and available at shops in every quadrant of Portland (and even a few smart retailers out of state).

4.Oro PDX

Every time we set foot in Oro’s shop near our Hawthorne Cider House, we find something new that we can’t live without. Luscious body care products, handmade jewelry, one-of-a-kind housewares, quirky treasures, and dazzling crystals mean that there’s something for pretty much everyone, and if you can’t decide for Mom, get her a gift card!

P.S. Sign-up by May 6th for our #RazzleDazzle giveaway with Oro PDX on Instagram.

5.Creo Chocolate

The Straub family LOVES chocolate. (#Relatable) But they loved it enough to sell their farm and start a chocolate company! They purchase shipping containers filled with cacao pods from a small family farm in Ecuador. Then, like magic, they turn the pods into velvety, tantalizing chocolate bars, nibs, and truffles, right in their Northeast Broadway chocolate factory. Shop online and pick up in the store before Sunday!

6.The Village Ice Cream Factory

Okay, it’s Mother’s Day, and your leading lady already has everything she needs. So how about a sweet trip for two to an authentic ice cream shop? One of Multnomah Village’s latest additions is a scoop shop that also offers malts, shakes, sorbets, floats, and more with flavors that rotate regularly. Grab a cone or a cup or whatever floats your boat and window-shop the Village while you eat.

7.Portland Cider Co.

If she’s not a flower kinda gal, you can give Mom a dozen cans of our Pineapple Rosé! Or gift her a subscription to the Portland Cider Club. Or just swing by our Clackamas Pub for food and drinks in our outdoor dining space, and enjoy each other’s company for a while. We’d love to see you there!

No matter how you celebrate the mother-type person in your life, all of us at Portland Cider Co. wish you a safe, happy, and loving Mother’s Day with lots of delicious cider. ❤️
