All in the Family: Meet Paul!

Many of our long-time fans will recognize Paul. He’s been with us for more than six years, managing the Portland Cider House on Hawthorne Boulevard.

Paul has watched the company grow over those six years, from a small local cider producer to the second-largest locally owned cider maker in the state of Oregon. “When I started,” Paul said, “it was just Jeff, Deron and Sam in the production area. Now it’s a whole crew!”

Paul’s own connection with the company has grown, too. His Wife, Aleksandra, is the art curator for Portland Cider House, and in 2022 she was commissioned to create a beautiful 100-square-foot mural in our new Westside Pub in Beaverton. Shortly after it was completed, she and Paul turned their attention to their latest, greatest creation: their newborn baby, Lyric! They’re already planning out which concert will be his first…

Born in Kentucky, Paul has been immersed in Portland culture for the last 15 years--long enough that it feels like home. When he’s not at Portland Cider House, or hanging out with Lyric, Aleksandra, and their dogs, chickens and crested geckos, you’ll find him exploring local concerts and music festivals, and plotting how to visit the only two US states he hasn’t been to yet--Alaska and Rhode Island.

As manager of Portland Cider House, it can be tough to settle on a favorite cider when there are so many taproom exclusives to choose from. “My favorite is currently Kermerrian,” he said. “The small-batch, single-varietal series, including Porter’s Perfection and McIntosh, have been my favorites of the year.”

We’re so glad Paul is part of our team, and it seems like the feeling is mutual. “I love getting to work with a family-owned small business that’s passionate about what they’re doing. And the best part is working with our amazing, close-knit team at Hawthorne! I get to spend my days with such awesome people.”

Right back atcha, Paul!
