Fall Fun for All Ages in Portland

Fall is in full swing. If you’re looking for a city that goes all-out to celebrate the season, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a city that loves fall more than Portland.

We’ve rounded up some of our picks (all socially-distancing approved) of the best activities to take in this fall all around the city.

Haunted Drive Thru

It wouldn’t be fall without Halloween and a few haunts  At The Oaks Amusement Park, you can enjoy all the Halloween thrills of visiting the haunted house, but from the safety of your socially-distanced vehicle in a drive-in style setting.

Rather than driving by the excitement, you'll drive in, park, and become a part of the show! You'll be front-and-center in the action, enclosed within various haunted sets, and fully immersed in the experience. There are five different themes to choose from, but all feature audio, video, and special effect elements to complete the experience. There’s even a family-friendly matinee show that is fun for all ages.

This attraction is open weekends in October, every day during the week of Halloween, and November 1.

Take in a Walking Donut Tour

Portland is synonymous with great food & drink, and donuts are no exception. This unique tour incorporates a few of the can’t-miss spots, all in one, two-hour exploration. While you’re walking, you’ll learn more about the history of Portland, the story behind each donut spot, and how they’re a piece in the puzzle for Portland’s larger food scene. With the leaves changing and cool temperatures arriving, now is the perfect time for this experience. Tours are two hours, can accommodate up to 10 people, and offered Thursday - Sundays.

Enjoy Family Time at Waterfront Park

Before the weather gets too chilly, head out to Waterfront Park, and hit the trails. All of the paths in the 30-acre waterfront park are paved, making for easy access for bikers, walkers, and strollers alike. Many of the trees’ leaves are changing, which makes for especially beautiful waterfront scenery.

Bella’s Organic Farm

Returning for the 2020 Halloween season, Bella Organic Farm’s Haunted Corn Maze is back at sundown on Friday and Saturday nights. The theme this year is “Stranger Things,” based on the hit Netflix series. You’ll make your way through the “Upside Down” while avoiding ghouls and zombies at every turn.

If scares aren’t your thing, the all-ages regular corn maze is open daily until October 31.

Also at the farm, you can find their famous pumpkin patch, hayrides, duck races, and even our Pumpkin Spice Cider which they have on tap!

Check out Portland Cider House

With over 30 ciders on tap for flights, growlers, and crowlers, the choices are endless and are sure to make all of your cider dreams come true. Our taproom and pub are open for dining in, and we welcome those of all ages.
Our newest cider, PDX Community Cider, is now on tap (and for the first time in 2020, it is available in 19.2 oz. Proper Pint cans and 12 oz. can 6-packs). This cider is especially near and dear to our hearts because it is for Portland, by Portland. PDX Community Cider was made from the fruits collected from the community this July - September during our Fruit Forward Drive.

And the best part? Ten percent of the cider’s profits will be donated to Hunger-Free Schools, a segment of Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. This program works to end childhood hunger in Oregon, supporting Hunger-Free Schools with their emergency grant funding to ensure every child in our community has enough to eat while schools are closed.

We love to see what you and your family (or friends!) are up to all around Rose City. Connect with us on social media and let us know!

Portland Cider Company is committed to making the best cider in the Pacific Northwest - it’s in our roots!
